Launching of a new site

We’ve decided to take the plunge recently and upgraded our website.  We loved the old one, but it was time to invest some time and effort into new software, a fresh look and new content.  We, for posterity purposes wanted to retain some of the old, so we designed the layouts using a similar header and color scheme.  After about a month of trial and error we believe we got the links somewhat correct.  The learning curve was steep in the beginning.  Sometimes extremely intimidating and frustrating to the point of disbelief.  It is funny though, once you begin to “get it” , working with new web design software can become empowering.  There is still much to accomplish, the backside of the site needs a lot of SEO attention.  Undoubtedly it will remain a work in progress for many months.  Updating my old site was never something I relished or had a lot of time for.  In fact, my teenage daughter had built it before going off to college as a summer project. Occasionally I would blog or edit the pages, updating slide shows and making minor modifications.  And when I say “occasionally” I mean once a year.  The experience of designing my new site from ground up has taught me the importance of maintaining an ongoing effort to blog, improve and keep a close eye on my site.  Security, relevance, and common sense tells me my past attitude of oblivion just won’t suffice.  Welcome to my new site.
